New on board from NE Texas

Postby SE Road King » Tue Jul 31, 2012 3:23 pm

I own a '07EN500c LTD. My wife rides it every day. I am the wrench for the bike. I added hard saddle bags and a tour pack to it as a gift at Christmas in Dec '11. We bought it second hand with 11k miles. It is in good running order and safe, all and all a good score. I've added new rubber and front brake pads and it just now needs a new battery. I'll be popping the cam/rocker cover soon for a valve lash adjustment and will be replacing the fork seals as well. I have owned over 2 dozen bikes in my 55 years with about half of them being Harley Davidsons. The only other Kaw that I have owned was a '93 KX250 that I did not ride much more than 50 hours. I did get to spend a bit of time on a friends 750 tripple mid '70's. He had port and skirt work done, decked heads, carb work and an expansion chamber set up on it, I did most of the wrenching. The bike was fast but hard to start once warmed up. Constantly fouled plugs. Actually the bike was very dangerous over 60MPH and it would go waaaay beyond 60MPH. It was under sprung, had terrible steering geometry, wheels and brakes. It became uninsurable otherwise I might have bought the bike from him, now glad I did not. Or maybe I should have, in the right chassis... well. Long story short I've enjoyed a lot of bikes, built some up and used some plumb up.

Welcome to the forum S.E. Road King. It sounds like you have a lot of mechanical experience. I'm sure you will be a nice addition to our knowledge base around here. This is a good group, nobody ever has a cross word and lots of willingness to help someone if they are experiencing problems. I hope you will enjoy it here.

Welcome from Arkansas! Glad to have you on the forum.
Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.
