I'd love to have a luggage rack on my bike but I refuse to pay the ridiculous prices that are out there. Most of what I find on ebay is flimsy crap. I'm hoping for something old in the $50.00 range. Rusty chrome is OK. As long as it's straight and it'll fit my year bike I'm interested. Lemme know whatcha got. I'm a poor boy so don't offer me any high dollar stuff from Kuryakyn etc.

If you're looking for the OEM luggage rack you might try googling "K53020-095" that is the part number. I doubt you'll find it for $50 though. Also try 500 Rider, he knows someone who makes crash bars and luggage racks. Good luck

There are a few really nice racks on the local craigslist for $45-$65 but they're for Vulcan 1600 and 2000. Do you think it might be worth checking them out this weekend or are they going to be way too different?

I have no idea. If you do find one that fits, let us know. It might help someone else. I'm looking for one for my '94. Probably going to end up making it as I'd like to add an auxiliary gas tank behind the sissy bar.

I have the "rear rack" from the kawasaki.com site on my 2006 V-500. Look under the seats and backrests area. It's $75 if that isn't out of your price range. It's strong enough for what I carry on trips.

Looking more closely at the pictures of the racks that are for sale locally it's obvious that they would be way too much work to adapt to my bike.
I keep looking at the Kawasaki rack and just can't get excited. It's so small it looks like more of a dress up item than something functional. I don't need to haul refrigerators but it looks like my lunchbox would be too big for it. I starting to think about getting a $100.00 mig welder from Harbor Freight and just build my own. I can probably scrounge up enough materials at work. I really wouldn't have much use for the welder after wards though. Gotta think about this.........

I like the Kawasaki rack because it sits lower, just above the fender. This allows me to put my sissy bar bag behind it instead of having to put it in front of the backrest. I agree it is somewhat flimsy though IIRC the paperwork with it said it can only support 5 lbs or something ridiculously light. It's carried the weight of my fully loaded bag with no problems (maybe 20-30 lbs)
