A brief history of the Kawasaki's 500 cc Vulcans.

In 1990 the first Vulcan 500 (EN500A) evolved from the Kawasaki 454 LTD. The 454 LTD also gave rise to the Ninja 500 (EX500). In 1996 the current Vulcan 500 LTD (EN500C) was introduced. During this year both models were available. The camshafts and pistons were changed for more lower end torque. Think "more cruiser like characteristics." Also Kawasaki opted to replace the belt drive for a less expensive chain drive.

2009 marked the end of the EN500C. For about 5 years the smallest Vulcan was 900 cc. Then in 2015 the 650 cc Vulcan S (EN650AF/BF) became the "successor" to the EN500C.
