Luggage rack

The Kawi came with what I guess is a factory chrome luggage rack. What was it made for? Carrying a Happy Meal? It sure didn't hold up to my Wolfman sissy bar bag with a small tool box. One side broke off. So I took the homemade aluminum rack I had on my Shadow and made new side rails. I think it is much stronger.

Nice job on the new rack! Are you interested in getting rid of the factory rack for a reasonable price? I just need something to strap my back pack to. If it's the type that bolts to the bike rather than requiring a sissy bar I might be interested. P.M. me.

I'm assuming what he has was not OEM as the OEM one doesn't require the sissy bar as you describe. Besides he said what he had broke, why would you want a broken rack? BTW good luck finding the OEM at a reasonable price. I think I paid 80ish for mine. It supports my fully packed sissy bar bag just fine.

Triangles is right. It bolts to the sissybar. It is kinda cheap and even if you weld it I'm not sure it would hold long. My homemade isn't as pretty, but I'm sure it will hold up longer.

Your original post suggested it was the factory style rack. Had that been the case and the price was right it might have been worth it for me to repair it. There are a bazillion of those el cheapo sissy bar racks out there. I don't want a sissy bar though. Hoping upon hope that I can find a used factory mount rack for a decent price.

It was on the bike when I got it. Didn't know anything about it. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it now. My wife likes it because it is shine.
