New Vulcan 500...

Postby charnotx » Fri Jun 26, 2015 5:34 pm

So as y'all may know from a different post, I was in a wreck about two months ago, where my 1999 Vulcan 500 had it's front end twisted.

Since then I've been working on rebuilding (and modifying it) so that it is in good, working condition. Everything has been taken apart, received all the replacement parts (except a front fender and second mirror) and I'm currently in the rebuild stage. Right now I'm rebuilding a replacement set of forks I found on eBay, using that helpful guide Triangles put together (much appreciated!). Still got work to do, but I'm well on my way and learning a lot.

This has, however, left me driving a cage everyday.

The itch has just been getting worse

and worse

and worse,

and finally, I snapped.

I bought another Vulcan 500!

This time around it is a 2009, so 10 years younger than my current steed. The previous owner bought the bike in hopes that his wife would want to go riding with him. Unfortunately for him, she felt that it was too big, and too powerful! His loss, my gain! With a fresh set of Pirelli tires (REAR: 140/90 - 15 MT66; FRONT: 100/90 - 19 MT66) and oil change, the new beast was ready for the open road.... It is truly amazing the quality level of these bikes, and why when you have something great you don't mess with.

Once I get my trusty stallion back on the road, I plan to give this one to my dad. He is the one that gave me the passion, and it would be great to go riding together on such reliable workhorses.

Sorry about the wreck, and glad you're OK. Hope you and your dad have a lot of happy miles together.
Triangles helped me out big time too! Nice knowledgable guy!
