New toy

Postby Jablonsky » Tue Sep 25, 2012 4:18 am

It's been almost a century since my last visit to this speakeasy :)
In the meantime my wife allowed me to reward myself with a new toy (I guess this means I've been a good boy?)
It's a quad, SMC RAM 520 RR, made in Taiwan. And it's fun when you get used to riding it.

My little garage is getting a bit crowded... :?

Very legal. Do I look like someone who would do anything illegal? ;)

SWEET! In the so called "land of the free" a quad would never be street legal as it would have to meet car crash standards since it has 4 wheels. Stoopid laws!

Well, that means the authorities care. I guess...
On every pack of cigarettes you find this warning: "smoking causes cancer, heart disease, impotence... And of course, it kills you."
Alcohol? Don't even think about it!
Riding a bike without a helmet? No way!
Now they are trying to introduce obligatory safety vests.
Etc etc etc
All because they really care.

Strange, but I've never noticed a surgeon general warning on my employment record book, saying: "Working your ass off for a fistful of dollar$ (€uro in my case) will kill you as certainly as smoking, drinking, riding without a helmet or without the bloody safety vest. And you won't even enjoy it..."

Here in our swamp, a friend of mine took a HD sportster, invested 6 years of work and a considerable amount of money and created, IMHO, an impressive bike.

(Try to guess which is my friend's favourite colour.)

Then it took him forever and he had to submit tons of papers (most of them not only once, but twice or three times, because they got lost somewhere in the labyrinth of various offices) to get the approval and make his bike street legal.

So, if you take an ordinary and harmless everyman out of the crowd, put a stamp in his hand and give him the power to use it, you actually do what doc Frankenstein did back in his days: create a Monster.
And you don't even have to sweat and dig spare parts out of graves.

Forgot to mention: the Chinese death trap looks very attractive!

But what I'd really love to have is Isetta. The little thing is just too sexy.

How could I forget the Isetta! LOL That's a sweet Harley. Looks like it has borrowed some technology from the US Air Force's stealth fighter program. :)
