Demise of the truly affordable oil filter

Postby Turbojoe » Sun Mar 11, 2012 12:27 am

On my Vulcan 500 I've been using the Walmart "Super Tech" ST 7317 oil filter. It has worked just fine for me at an awesome price. It has also worked great for many others out there as well. For whatever reason Walmart has seen fit to discontinue this and all other Super Tech filters. When I saw the news I checked the greater Phoenix area and found none left in stock anywhere or I would have made the ride to grab as many as I could. Now I will have to start paying 2-3 times as much just for a freaking brand name! I'm coming due for an oil change very soon. This sucks. Had I known this was going to happen I would have bought all the Super Tech filters I could find when they were available. &#!+, &#!+, $#!+!!!!!!

how cheap were they? I usually get the fram for dirt cheap $3.50. Sometimes AutoZone has the Bosh filters on sale. Hell any of the "automotive" filters are truly affordable compared to one from the motorcycle shop.
