Larger Gas Tank for EN500A
If anyone has shoe horned a larger gas tank on the first gen vulcan 500's I'd like some details. I've seen a few things that might work, but they cost about as much as I spent on the bike.

if you took your time, and had the tools, you could always adapt the bottom of your tank to the top of a custom tank. i would take some time, but it would work.

If you're ever down this way (or I'm up that way) I'd be glad to pop the tank off my LTD for you to compare. Perhaps it can be adapted to an A model?

Thanks but, I have both the an "A" and "C" I haven't tried since the C has the spedo on the tank where the spedo is on the handlebars on the A. I have some ideas brewing in the back of my mind similar to what BikerBill did.

You wouldn't be willing to move to a tank mounted gauge set if that solved the problem?

no that's the one thing I dislike about my LTD. I wear a full face helmet and I can't see the idiot lights without rotating my head down. It also takes my eyes off the road longer than I'd like to check my speed. I usually use a quick glance at my tach to gauge my speed. I'm contemplating a spun aluminum tank behind the sissy bar. it would be easier and probably cheaper than shoehorning a larger main tank on.

Fair enough. I prefer the bar mounted gauges also, but if it's a choice between that and an extra gallon of fuel, I'll deal with glancing down from time to time. Thankfully, the Silverwing I'm tinkering with in the garage has a 4.6 gallon tank and bar mounted gauges, so I can stop compromising whenever I get it up and running.
