Who has replaced stock headlight with brighter one?

Postby FerdyRatTara » Wed Aug 22, 2018 9:24 pm

I read on another forum where some have replaced the stock (55/60W bulb) with a 90/140W bulb. Has anyone switched to a brighter bulb? Any issues? I don't like to ride mine at night since the lighting is so poor. The person on the other forum bought the headlight at Autozone and it is a Silvania Silverstar. They run about $15. Guess we have enough extra electrical supply to handle it.

Welcome FerdyRatTara.

I installed a 35W HID system from DDMtuning.com about eight years ago and it really lights up the night. Some have called it 'Flamethrower'. :)
Installation was quite tedious but in the end it has held up well.
Here's a link to it: https://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/HIDBIKESINGLEHILO

I also have a pair of 35W spotlights on a light bar beside the headlight and another pair of 10W LED lights mounted on the lower forks. All together they throw over 5,000 lumens down the road. :)

That said use power carefully. The alternator output is only 240 watts (17A) and it takes about 9A to keep the bike running.
