If you happen to have a completely dead battery you can still push start a Vulcan 500.
Step 1: turn the key "on" and engage the choke.
Step 2: Decide which gear you want to use.
I used 2nd gear. If your clutch doesn't drag much you can probably use 3rd.
Step 3: Get the bike rolling at least 5-10 mph.
This will be easier if you have a hill.
Step 4: Pop the bike in gear.
If you are doing this solo with out a helper pushing. Jump on the rolling bike and either pop the gear shift from neutral to 2nd or if pushing in gear with clutch pulled in, drop the clutch.
Step 5: As soon as the engine "pops", immediately pull in the clutch while opening up the throttle.
I was surprised at just how easy this was to do. I had a completely bone dead battery because some idiot left the ignition on 4 hours earlier.
