Started on an '82 Suzuki GS750E. Top heavy bike with way too much power on tap to be a decent first bike. Still, had a lot of fun with that thing and it never really let me down. Rode it from early 2005 and put on 5 or 10k miles until July of 2006 when I hit a deer. Took a couple of years off of riding and eventually gave that bike away. When I got back from deployment in August of 2008, I bought a '99 Rebel. Had it for about a year and only put on 3500 or so miles before I bought the Vulcan 500. I'm coming up on 5k miles on it since getting it on the road last November.

Right now I'm working on an '83 Honda GL650i Silverwing. When I get it on the road, I'll decide whether to keep the 500 or not. It's been a fun ride, but I don't actually need two bikes. We'll see...

At the young age of 56 I bought my first ever ride with absolutely zero experience, a 2007 Piaggio MP3 250.


A year and 23,000 miles later I wanted more power for passing or holding speed on hills and upgraded to a 2008 Piagio MP3 400.


Another 2 years and 50,000 miles and I decided to try something different. I also wanted to get comfortble shifting to allow riding other bike when I have the opportunity such as my son's road king when I visit him. Some research led me last week to a good Craig's list buy of a 1993 Vulcan 500, 17,000 miles, great shape, $1400.


Onl 250 miles so far. Need a bit more practice andsome luggage before I take a trip to the mountains.

The MP3 is a great ride anda blast on twisty roads. I will keep it and alternate riding the two bikes.

My whole family rode bikes. Dad & most of my uncles rode British singles desert racing. I started riding @ 14, I'm 53 now:

1 and 2 I had when I was much younger. I rode them from 1976 until sometime around 1985 or so. I bought the Honda Shadow after about 25 years away from motorcycles just because I'd been wanting one. I've had it since October 2010. The following October I ran across the Kawasaki at a bike shop and the deal on it was just too good to pass up so I didn't.
