Just an Update

Postby puckothewilde » Tue Jul 03, 2012 3:12 am

Added some new photos to thealbum. Some pix of the cast wheel on the rear of the bike. Now I need a front and a belt drive.

I cleaned the air filter and ordered a new one. The one in the bike now I think is the original. The foam of the filter itself is not too bad, but the foam "gasket" seal around the edges is starting to fall apart. Also I rodered the shift lever on the inner side of the shifter. Mine has broken twice now and had to be welded. This last time was last week on the way to work. I made the mistake of shifting down when I felt it start to break. So I was stuck in 1st gear and drove to my mechanics shop 10 miles at 10 mph. In 106 degree heat. Not high on my recomd to do list.

Otherwise I really like the little 500. Really like the 51+mpg I get.

nice work! I switched to the cast wheels both and really like it. Please when you get around to doing the belt conversion take lots of picts and share :) For a while I had thought of making a home brew belt conversion but I didn't think it was worth all the time and effort. I'd like to see how the kit compares to what I had planned.

Belt conversion will be next year's tax return.

It has a few dents and scrapes. The lady that had it before me dropped it in the driveway several times. Ended up buying a Can-Am Spyder. I'm just using it for commuting so dents are not important.
