Here is a picture of my bike a couple of weeks after I got it, in April of 2011. Changed the oil, plugs, & gas; added some seafoam to clean up the carbs, a new battery and a couple of hours detailing.
Here is a picture of my bike as it looks today. It's not quite where I want it, but damn close.

very nice. I bet a lot of people would be very surprised at how nicely a 500 can ride when outfitted like that.

What you can't see it what really makes the ride. I purchased a gel-pad from J&P Cycles. It has the gel-pad, a layer of memory foam, and australian sheepskin on top. I took the gel-pad out of the casing and installed it under the seat vinyl. To do this, I actually used my electric carving knife and cut off part of the original foam so that I could maintain the original seat heighth. I put the sheepskin on top with some 2" commercial velcro. I can ride 100 miles easy before I have to stop and take a stretch.
