My first bike. Bought it about a year ago and it has been awesome! Got it on craigslist for $1200, w/ 8800 miles on it, runs great.

Very nice bike. I like the style of the model you have a lot more than the more recent versions. Nice chrome front fender, the speedo is in the CORRECT location and you got a tach from the factory on your bike. I also like the aluminum wheels. Congratulations on your find and welcome to the forum. :)

Thanks for the comments! The guy I bought it from took decent care of it and kept it in a garage, thank god for that. Haven't had any problems with it, I put about 3000 miles on it since I bought it. Actually I don't have a tach, but I have purchased one recently, bikers choice mini tach. Just gotta figure out how to connect it now.

Very nice ride. Sounds like you got a great deal.
I swear... I only ride to save gas. (If you believe that I have a deal on a bridge for you.)

Nope! There's a "pilot box" aka idiot lights where you would think the tach should be. I moved my idiot lights to LEDs in the handlebar clamp see http://vulcan500.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=125

triangles, the LEDs look awesome! Wish I had the proper tools to do it, I think I'm just going to mount the tach to the bars and keep it simple

You could always get some aluminum bits from the hardware store and even with basic hand tools make something that would just bolt to your handlebar clamp. that's what I was going to until It looked like I might be able to accomplish what I did. Although I couldn't have done it with out my machinist friend or access to a milling machine.
