Re: PM stuck in Outbox
Bill it stays in the outbox until the person you sent it to logs in and views the message. PM me if you need further help with this.

Re: Coldest I've ridden in.
I've tried some Oxford handlebar muffs but they don't work well with the Vulcan 500 LTD's handlebar geometry. Probably even worse on an EN500A. Also I had issues with the freeway wind activating the clutch lever  https://s.yimg.com/aah/yhst-11545572856523/oxford-bone-dry-handlebar-muffs-54.pn...

50 caliber SAW ammo cans, cheap, durable, and lockable. Plust a 12 pack of beverages or a gallon of milk fits easily in one.

Re: Coldest I've ridden in.
WOW that's pretty hardcore! I used to have a 30 mile commute and I had figured out how to keep warm except my hands. What do you use to keep your fingers from freezing? My Olympia Gortex gloves are only good for 30 miles or less depending on the temperature.

Coldest I've ridden in.
So this morning was the coldest weather I've ever ridden in. It was -10F and I have a bout a 7.5 mile commute. I probably couldn't have gone much farther due to my double wall snowmobile visor starting to frost over from my breath and my fingers were starting to get cold. She hasn't been ridden sinc...

Re: Kidney stones and riding :(
Thanks. I can't wait to get back on 2 wheels. If only it would stop snowing long enough for the roads to dry. 6F is the coldest I've ridden in and it's supposed to be in the negative teens F over night the next few days. If the roads are clear I may break my cold weather riding record.

Re: Status and Updates
Apparently a spam bot attack on the registration page occurred on Jan 17. The hosting service knocked us off line so the load wouldn't crash their server. Thankfully no damage was done to the site or forum. Sometime in the near future I'll be updating the forum software so if the forum is off line I...

Re: Kidney stones and riding :(
All is right with the world now. Apparently I had a 5mm stone stuck halfway between the kidney and bladder for over 2 months. Thanks to modern technology I avoided the rotorooter treatment and they pulverized it into sand with ultrasonic shockwaves (lithotripsy).

Kidney stones and riding :(
Well I now have my first kidney stone and as with everything else it's not a normal one. Apparently most people figure out they have one when they are in agonizing pain and begging for a mercy killing. I discovered mine via a CT scan 3 weeks before any pain. Having never had one I originally had no ...

Re: 2008 VULCAN 500
You don't need motorcycle specific oil I use Rotella 15W40 because it has high zinc content that supposedly helps protect the valvetrain. But really any 10W40 will work just fine. If you search on here there is a list of standard automotive filters that you can use to save some cash. I do my oil ear...

Re: What weight oil do you use?
Funny because I don't particularly care what the cold oil spec is as my bike heats up pretty quick. So I look for oil in the xW40 range not really caring much what "x" is but making sure its viscosity is correct when warm. I've run everything from x=0 to x=15. I used to ride a lot in the w...

Re: What weight oil do you use?
Thanks for the info. Is there something special that makes you like the Pennzoil more? I used to buy whatever was cheap then a while back I got a steal of a deal on 5 gallons of 15W40 Rotella so I'll use that up. Sadly I've hardly ridden at all this year
