Re: Luggage rack
Triangles is right. It bolts to the sissybar. It is kinda cheap and even if you weld it I'm not sure it would hold long. My homemade isn't as pretty, but I'm sure it will hold up longer. Your original post suggested it was the factory style rack. Had that been the case and the price was right it mi...

Re: Luggage rack
Nice job on the new rack! Are you interested in getting rid of the factory rack for a reasonable price? I just need something to strap my back pack to. If it's the type that bolts to the bike rather than requiring a sissy bar I might be interested. P.M. me.

Re: 17-tooth sprocket?
I've had my 17 tooth sprocket for about a year now. Stayed with this same tooth count when I replaced the chain and sprockets a few months back. With the 16 tooth I felt 1st gear was pretty much useless as I was looking for 2nd gear as soon as I got rolling. Now 1st gear is much more useful. Especia...

Re: My broken leg is finally mended
Happy to see you up, around and even back in the saddle again! Take it slow and heal up right. Is that junk yard in your leg permanent or will they be removing it later? You could probably use some of that stuff for your trike build.

Re: Gas Tank Needed
Admittedly that tank is rough but it's dirt cheap. There are several repair options though. The local community college body shop. The local High School shop class. Either may be happy to take this on as a class project with little if any cost to you. If you're in a hurry for it then there are place...

Re: Gas Tank Needed
I just saw this on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/06-Kawasaki-Vulcan-EN500-500-LTD-FUEL-GAS-PETRO-TANK-/190697219159?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2c6670a457&vxp=mtr It's not perfect but it's cheap enough for now. $40.00 with no bids!

Hmmm. No picture upload. Not sure what happened. Maybe too big. I'll resize them and see what happens...

How cool is THIS!
I went to Cycle Gear this morning to have them replace a tube I destroyed during new front tire installation. Don't ask... While there this guy pulled up in a who knows what! 3 wheels but a 4th on the side car. In talking to the owner the project started as a BMW fork bearing mount and down tubes. F...

Re: New Rider in NC
Here's another warm forum welcome! I've had a lot of bikes in the past 45 years but when I look at my 2004 Vulcan 500 FOR WHAT IT IS I've never had a bike that made me happier. For a 500cc machine I'm amazed at the performance it gives me. I've never been in a situation where I've needed more power....

Re: Gas mileage!
Either that or the 111 degree temps out there are causing heat to rise up off the pavement and lift your bike up like a hot air balloon making it lighter and more fuel efficient. :) Laughed my butt off at that one! I wish I could find "pure gas" around here but it's all ethanol dilu...

Sounds like you dodged what could have been much worse if the guy behind you didn't stop in time. Glad to hear you aren't injured any worse than you are. I'm sure you'll feel a few more aches and pains when you get up tomorrow morning though.....

Re: New tire love
I've been super happy with the Bridgestone S-11 rear and couldn't wait any longer for the Kenda front tire to wear out so I just ordered a new Bridgestone Spitfire S-11 100/90-19 for the front of my bike. When I installed the S-11 rear all road groove tracking completely stopped at the rear. Unfortu...
