Re: vulcan 500 exhaust

We used a reducer kit from JC Whitney to attach Dyna glide mufflers. It worked great.

Re: Never slam the front brake while in a turn!

I did something similar WHILE in the MSF class. Went down with everyone in the class watching. Somehow, I passed and got my endorsement anyway. I still remember just how scary and out of control I felt. Even without pulling the brake, just turning the front wheel while stopping can put you down likk...

Re: hello new owner in Seattle area

Welcome to the forum. Hang in there, as the weather cools down we'll all spend more time on the forums. I too have been riding whenever it's not raining. Found a great new meet-up group and have been doing a lot of group rides; big fun!

Amen to that. I try not to ever talk and drive myself, and I dislike seeing others doing it.

Re: watch out

for cars with cell phones!! spec the opposite sex you know the ones not know for multitasking I was behind a man the other day who 1.) while turning left in front of me, went so wide, he skimmed the far curb, 2.) proceeded to drive for the next 1 1/2 miles weaving back and forth over the line to hi...

Re: 2009 500 Ltd

I can only report what those with longer legs tell me. For me, they are more comfortable than the pegs. They give me more room for my feet to move. They are both further forward and further back since they are wider than pegs. My 5'11" husband tells me that they make him feel cramped. Maybe tha...

Re: Red 2006

I'd say the 900 would beat the 500 for two telephone poles and then get left in the dust from there out. The guys I've talked to on another Vulcan forum that own 900's don't seem to have anywhere near the top end the 500 does. That's exactly what happens when I'm not paying attention. I really do t...

Re: LTD owners, does your kick stand drag when turning sharp?

Don't think I ever have. But since Burkbuilds didn't know til his son in law told him, maybe I'll check for scrape marks...Nope, looks okay.

Re: 2009 500 Ltd

hmmm I'm 5'-10" I thought about Vulcan 800 floor boards since they supposedly fit the 500 too but was more interested in the iso wings since they looked like they'd fit better. Do the iso wings raise the peg position relative to stock? I don't know if they raise the peg position but they are f...

Re: Red 2006

Very nice! I think i can safely say that most of us on this forum feel that the 500 is a great bike. Definitely gets up and goes. I have a bad habit of leaving my husband on his 900 custom in the dust when I lead, consequently it's better if he rides in front. Welcome to the forum, Linda

Re: 2009 500 Ltd

I've never scraped them, and for me, they're great. I feel like they give my feet more room to move, they are much more comfortable. I also didn't care for the stock pegs, so the wings are a big improvement. They needed to be installed without the springs that would normally keep the stock pegs down...

Re: 2009 500 Ltd

I love them, but I am very short, 5 foot nothin. Ask georgiarider what he thinks as he used to have them. My husband, who is 5'11, says that they make him feel like his knees are up around his ears. As to your second question, yes you do need adapters, I will have to look up the number if you want t...
