Re: fuel leaking into airbox

thanks for all the advice. I appreciate you taking the time to write all this out. Things are a little busy right now so not sure when I'll get to work on it. (fortunately I have a backup bike) But I'll let you know how things turn out. Thanks again, for both the advice here and the forum in general.

Re: fuel leaking into airbox

I took my year 2000 on a 1,000 mile road trip last weekend. Got back Tuesday night. Rode to work Wednesday. No problems. Got on Thursday morning to go to work and wouldn't start. Gas started coming out the air chamber behind the carbs. If there's a leak or needle problem wouldn't it run on the other...

Sorry about the wreck, and glad you're OK. Hope you and your dad have a lot of happy miles together.
Triangles helped me out big time too! Nice knowledgable guy!

Re: Best size sprockets for highway riding

I went with the 17/40 a couple years ago on my 2000 LTD and love it. Almost all of my riding is on highways around 60-65 MPH. I don't feel I'm lacking power and mileage increased about 5-7 MPG (55-60 now).

Good Morning. It won't let me PM due to being new to the site. Is it OK for me to send you my email address in a reply right here? I don't want to break any rules.

Re: transmission noise

You might just be a genius. The problem appears to be the chain. I rode it to warm the chain up, cleaned it off, worked it a little bit, lubed it within a inch of it's life, and the noise is gone. Let it set overnight and rode it to work (30 miles) this morning and still can't hear anything. You sai...

Re: transmission noise

Triangles, thanks a bunch for the suggestions. I changed oil a few weeks ago before I noticed the sound being consistent and stupidly dumped it in with other waste oil. But I'll take a look at it anyway, and check the window. We did check the front sprocket but didn't think about the chain. Man, tha...

transmission noise

In need of advice. My bike started making a "cluncking" sound a few weeks ago when accelerating. I was hoping I'd simply let the drive chain get a little loose and it was hitting against the frame. Not the case. I took it to the bike shop and they believe the tranny in going out. I can't f...
