Re: Rider's backrest
FYI here is what my Protac backrest looks like. The bar the backrest is made of is stainless steel. http://s17.postimage.org/x0k9244ln/106_9279_Large.jpg Seat removed to show brackets. http://s8.postimage.org/8xbkzp2dt/106_9280_Large.jpg Seat installed on bike. http://s7.postimage.org/h3d94cscn/106...

Re: Rider's backrest
Thanks for the tips. I'm going to check them both out and see what they look like. Also, I found a backrest on ebay that, while the fitment isn't for the Vulcan 500, looks to be configured in such a way that I can cut the seat cover and cushion to insert the mounting bracket, drill matching holes in...

Rider's backrest
Is anyone aware of a rider's backrest available anywhere that will fit the Vulcan 500? I've got a passenger backrest, added saddlebags and a T-bag for storage, and am about to purchase a windshield and likely a crashbar and extended highway pegs to help make this bike more comfortable for exteneded ...

Re: Windshield for sale
The windshield has sold and is on its way to a new home in North Carolina. May it serve your needs and may you have many happy miles in the wind (with the bugs hitting the windshield and not your face) GrammyGayle.

GrammyGayle, I sent you an email about the windshield a couple of days ago with all the particulars. I do still have it if you still need it.

Re: Windshield for sale
I'll go out and measure it again to confirm tonight but I believe it is 14" tall. I am in central Arkansas so if you give me your zip code I'll check on shipping. The 06 and 05 are virtually identical and the shield is interchangeable according to all of the sites I have checked.

Hey Triangles, I'm glad it wasn't any worse than it turned out to be. And you're right. Stuff can be replaced. Feel better soon.

Re: Finally experienced the gas tank "vapor lock"
Ahhh, that explains it then. Thanks. I'll quit worrying about it unless something happens to make me need to worry. My younger son will be taking the MSF Basic Rider Course in mid-July and then will be purchasing the Vulcan from me and I do want to make sure he is able to enjoy many miles of issue-f...

Re: Finally experienced the gas tank "vapor lock"
Mine didn't quit on me but probably just because I was only riding around the neighborhood. It was over 100 degrees in Little Rock yesterday and I took my older son out riding on his new Ninja 650 (nice machine-not really new though-an '08 with 14,000 beautiful adult ridden miles :D ) with me in the...

Re: list of previous bikes
1. 1975 Yamaha RD250 2. 1978 Honda CX500 3. 2001 Honda Shadow ACE 750 (still own) 4. 2005 Kawasaki Vulcan 500 (still own) 1 and 2 I had when I was much younger. I rode them from 1976 until sometime around 1985 or so. I bought the Honda Shadow after about 25 years away from motorcycles just because I...

Windshield for sale
I've got what I believe is a small V-Force Kawi windshield complete with mounting brackets that I removed from my 2005 Vulcan 500 the other day. My 17-year-old has decided he wants to buy the bike but doesn't want the windshield so I thought I'd see if someone else can use it. I figured I'd offer it...
